How do I choose my next big adventure? I've wrestled with this question for a few months now. My last year was focused on marathons and camping adventures, but those have come and gone.

My Last Big Undertaking - Cleveland Marathon

Having an adventure in the calendar gives purpose. It provides a reason to get out of bed and train. It acts as something to look forward to, something to chase. It's what makes you feel alive. Without it, life just feels like going through the motions.

This is why the question arose. I missed having an experience to chase, a purpose to pursue. So, I started writing down ideas. I highly recommend this.

Misogi - Japenese Shinto Yearly Purification Ritual by Challenge

Which challenge scares you the most? Chase that. Pursuing that will grow you beyond what you can even imagine. You'll have to make new friends, start new habits, and lose some of you in the process. Good. In exchange, you'll remind yourself what being alive really feels like.

No adventure is complete without company. What's the point if you can't share the memories? This was the deciding factor for me. When I heard people around talk about summiting a mountain, I knew that was the next adventure. Find your community.

My next adventure will be Summiting Grand Teton.
